Bramley Apple Week - Mon 6th Feb

Bramley Apple Week - Mon 6th Feb

Bramley Apples took their name from Matthew Bramley, a butcher from Nottingham.

Matthew bought a cottage in 1846 - in the garden sat an apple tree. A man named Henry Merryweather began taking cuttings from Matthew's apple tree in 1856 under the condition they were sold on as Bramley Seedlings.

The first recorded sale was in 1862 and the tree planted over 200 years ago is responsible for the huge production of Bramley apples we know and buy today.

We will be joining in the celebrations here at The Wheatsheaf Pub & Dining Room with our Head Chef Luke's Homemade Apple Crumble on our menu all week.
